Scattered rain showers were forecast for the Pacific Northwest and northern California on Friday, while southern California was to get cooler air.

The mid-regions of the country were to remain dry with fair conditions.

The Great Lakes and portions of the Northeast were to continue seeing showers.

In the Southeast, southern Florida was to get showers, with a slight chance of thunderstorms.

Temperatures were to be in the 50s to 60s in the Northeast; 70s to 80s in the Southeast; 60s to 70s in the Northern Plains; 80s to 90s in the Southern Plains; 60s and 70s in the Northwest; and 60s along the Southwest coast to the 90s inland.

Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Thursday ranged from 23 degrees at Shirley Basin, Wyo., to 107 degrees at Death Valley, Calif.
