Powerful storm systems are expected to hit both coasts Sunday, bringing snow and rain.

Significant snow could fall through the Great Lakes and New England, and the cold front will bring rain and even some snow to the Southeast and Appalachian Mountains. Wintry weather is expected in coastal New England with gusty winds.

On the West Coast, a major storm system will slam into California and Oregon. Some areas may receive torrential rain that could cause some flooding. Snow levels in the Sierras are expected to be near 7,500 feet.

Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Saturday ranged from a low of -11 degrees at Yellowstone, Wyo., to a high of 82 degrees at McAllen, Texas.
