Scattered showers and possible thunderstorms were forecast for northern New England on Saturday, and the same low pressure system could trigger showers over the Great Lakes region.
Severe weather was possible over the Northern Central Plains. Scattered showers and thunderstorms were possible over the Southern Plains as well.
In the Southeast, coastal showers and thunderstorms were to continue.
The Southwest was to see showers and thunderstorms with monsoon moisture. Heavy downpours with strong gusts and flooding was predicted in many desert areas.
The West Coast was to continue seeing mostly clear skies, except for some coastal fog and low clouds.
Temperatures in the Lower 48 states on Friday ranged from a low of 30 degrees at Polebridge, Mont., to a high of 121 degrees at Death Valley, Calif.
