Areas of the Midwest were expecting stormy weather Tuesday, with moderate showers and thunderstorms forecast for the Upper and Lower Great Lakes.

Showers were to extend to the Ohio Valley and some areas of the Northeast. Temperatures in the Midwest and Northeast were to range from the 50s to 60s.

The Southeast was to remain mostly dry with light scattered clouds. Rain showers and thunderstorms were forecast for southern Florida. Temperatures were to be in the 70s and 80s.

To the north, the northern Plains and Pacific Northwest were to see fair weather. Temperatures were to be in the 70s and 80s.

To the south, areas of showers and thunderstorms were to persist across the Central Great Basin. Temperatures were to range from 70s along coastal areas to 100s in desert regions.

Temperatures in the Lower 48 states on Monday ranged from a low of 21 degrees at Stanley, Idaho, to a high of 109 degrees at Death Valley, Calif.
