The Nation's Weather 06.14.09

By WEATHER UNDERGROUND

Rain was forecast Sunday for much of the nation, with possible severe weather developing across the Midwest and the lower Mississippi Valley.

Scattered showers and isolated mountain thunderstorms were expected from the Pacific Northwest to the Central and Northern High Plains and into parts of the Midwest.

Energy from that weather system was likely to produce scattered showers and strong thunderstorms with areas of hail and strong winds across the Central and Southern Plains and the Mid- to Lower Mississippi Valley. With daytime heating, the storms' intensity could increase in the Central and Southern regions, creating a chance for severe weather.

In the Southeast, scattered showers and thunderstorms were expected to develop along the coast of the Carolinas and stormy weather was also likely across southern Florida.

Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms were also expected across the Northeast.

Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Saturday ranged from a low of 30 degrees at Grand Canyon, Ariz. to a high of 108 degrees at San Angelo, Texas.
