Rain and high elevation snow was to continue in the West on Monday. Snow levels were to lower as cold air poured into the West Coast.
A mix of rain and snow was forecast for the northern half of the Plains. Significant rain and possible thunderstorms were expected in the Mississippi Valley.
Dry conditions were expected in the eastern third of the country.
Temperatures were to be in the 30s and 40s in the Northeast; 60s and 70s in the Southeast; 30s and 40s in the Upper Midwest; and 30s and 40s in the Northwest.
Temperatures in the Lower 48 states on Sunday ranged from a low of minus 7 degrees at Stanley, Idaho, to a high of 80 degrees at Alice, Texas.
