The Nation's Weather 01.11.09

By WEATHER UNDERGROUND

Snow was predicted to fall through New England Sunday morning, but greatly diminish in the afternoon.

Rain was to fall in the Southeast but trail off as the day progressed. By the end of the day the only precipitation was expected to be in Florida, which was to see showers and thunderstorms.

A very cold pool of air was to plummet southward into Texas.

Precipitation was to be renewed in the Northwest and Intermountain West. Significant cold air was to accompany this precipitation and thus significant high elevation snow was to fall. Some snow was to eventually fall in the Central Rockies in the afternoon and evening.

Dry weather was anticipated for the rest of the country.

Temperatures were to rise into the 10s, 20s, and 30s in the Northeast; 50s and 60s in the Southeast; 20s and 30s in the Upper Midwest; 50s and 60s in the Southern Plains; and 30s and 40s in the Northwest.

Temperatures in the Lower 48 states on Saturday ranged from a low of minus 36 degrees at Embarrass, Minn., to a high of 85 degrees at Weslaco, Texas.
