Significant snow fell across parts of the Plains, Great Lakes and Northeast on Tuesday.
Severe thunderstorms in eastern Texas and Louisiana toppled trees and damaged homes.
Snow showers and low-elevation rain were widespread across the southern Rockies and southern Plains. Strong winds contributed to drifting snow and low visibility.
Rain and mountain snow fell in the Pacific Northwest. The remainder of the West was sunny.
Temperatures in the Lower 48 states ranged from minus 7 degrees at Fosston, Minn., to 91 degrees at Falfurrias, Texas.
