Showers and thunderstorms were forecast Wednesday in a Midwest region extending from the Northern Plains to Northern Texas. The heaviest rainfall was anticipated in southeastern South Dakota and southwestern Minnesota. Snow was expected in the Northern Plains.

Out West, another wet and cool day was predicted for the Pacific Northwest. The remainder of the West Coast was expected to remain cool and dry.

Scattered showers were forecast for the eastern Mid-Atlantic states and southern New England as a low pressure system moves through the region.

Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Tuesday ranged from a low of 19 degrees at Cut Bank, Mont., to a high of 89 degrees at Pecos, Texas.
