Stormy weather was expected to persist across portions of the mid-Atlantic and Southeast on Tuesday, while showers and thunderstorms were forecast for the Gulf Coast and southern states along the East Coast.
Elsewhere, the Northeast will see partly cloudy and windy conditions on Tuesday.
In the central regions of the U.S., conditions were expected to range from partly cloudy to sunny across the Southern Plains and into the mid-Mississippi Valley.
Meanwhile, cool, moist air was expected to move across the Northwestern Coast, leading to cooler temperatures inland and along the coast. Fog was expected reach across the coast and may take time to clear.
Temperatures in the Lower 48 states on Monday ranged from a low of 27 degrees at Leadville, Colo., to a high of 107 degrees at Palm Springs, Calif.
