The Nation's Weather 08.17.08

By WEATHER UNDERGROUND

Thunderstorms were expected to continue Sunday in the Southwest and central Rockies. Flooding was a concern in the region as heavy rains were likely from the slow moving storms.

Wet weather was also expected to linger throughout the Gulf Coast states as humid air surges northward and meets with a stationary front set up across the region.

Along the West Coast, an approaching cold front was expected to substantially increase the amount of fog and low clouds that penetrate into coastal regions.

Warmer weather was forecast for the Northeast as low pressure that has been sending cool air into the region finally pushes off the coast.

Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Saturday ranged from a low of 30 degrees at Berthoud Pass, Colo., to a high of 120 degrees at The Death Valley, Calif.
