Cloudy conditions and light rain were expected in the Northeast on Thursday. Temperatures were to remain cool with highs only in the 60s and 70s.
The Southeast was to remain mostly clear and warm, although thunderstorms were likely to pop up in Florida in the afternoon. Temperatures were expected to be in the 80s and 90s.
Temperatures were to be warm across the Plains, with highs ranging from the 70s through the 90s. There was a possibility of thunderstorms across the central Plains, some of which could be severe.
The Pacific Northwest was expected to be cloudy. The rest of the Northwest was likely to see mostly clear skies and mild temperatures. Highs were expected to range from the 60s to the 80s.
The Southwest was forecast to be dry and hot. Temperatures were predicted to hit the 90s and 100s across most of the area, with desert regions reaching 110.
Temperatures in the Lower 48 states on Wednesday ranged from a low of 30 degrees at Stanley, Idaho., to a high of 111 degrees at Thermal, Calif.
