The Nation's Weather 02.13.09

The West Coast was to see active weather on Friday.

Moderate to heavy showers were expected over the Pacific Northwest and California.

Some 3 to 5 inches of snow were expected in lower areas, while near a foot was expected in the high mountains. The region was to see dangerous driving conditions due to strong winds with 30 mph gusts, causing blowing snow and reduced visibility.

Scattered snow showers were expected over the Central Rockies and into the Central Plains. Accumulations of 4 to 8 inches over Nebraska were expected.

Scattered showers of mixed precipitation was expected in northern New England, with snow likely at higher elevations.

In the South, light coastal showers were possible, but significant rainfall accumulation was not anticipated.
