Heavy rain and possibly thunderstorms were expected in Southern California and Arizona on Saturday as a storm moves across the Southwest. Nevada and Utah were to get snow, with a couple of inches possible in the mountains. The precipitation was to arrive in Colorado and New Mexico late in the day, in the form of snow for Colorado and rain and snow for New Mexico.

The Northwest was to remain mostly clear with some clouds late in the day.

In the Northern Plains, wet weather was expected. The snow was to be fairly light, with no major accumulation forecast.

The Upper Midwest was to see either snow or a wintery mix. The Central Plains was to get partly clear skies. Clouds were expected across the Southern Plains for the first half of the day.

The Ohio Valley, western Pennsylvania and New York were to see clouds. The rest of the Northeast was expecting mostly sunny skies to start the day, with clouds and snow showers moving in later.

The Southeast was to be mostly clear.

Temperatures in the Lower 48 states on Friday ranged from a low of minus 20 degrees at Whitefield, N.H., to a high of 87 degrees at Pecos, Texas.
