Snow was forecast for New England on Sunday.
Substantial lake effect snow was likely in western New York.
Cold Arctic air was to cool down temperatures from the Northern Plains through the Northeast and southward through the Southeast.
The West was to remain mostly dry. In the Northwest, however, rain and some high elevation snow was likely in Washington. Some showers were also possible in Southern California.
Temperatures were to be in the 20s and 30s in the Northeast; 40s and 50s in the Southeast; 10s and 20s in the Upper Midwest; and 50s and 60s in the Southwest.
Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Saturday ranged a low of -3 degrees at International Falls, Minn., to a high of 81 degrees at Pembroke Pines, Fla.
