Unseasonably warm temperatures along the West Coast and into the Southwest were to provide no support to firefighting crews in Southern California on Sunday. Santa Ana winds there were to continue to fuel the flames.

To the east, lake effect snowfall on the east side of the Great Lakes was to increase and be in full force in eastern New York by the day's end

A good amount of cool rain was to fall in northern New England.

Temperatures were to be in the 30s to the 50s in the Northeast; 40s to the 70s in the Southeast; 30s and 40s in the Upper Midwest; 80s and 90s in the Southwest; and 50s to the 70s in the Northwest.

Temperatures in the Lower 48 states ranged from 1 degree at Berthoud Pass, Colo., to 94 degrees at Santa Ana, Calif.
