Though downgraded to a tropical depression, Fay was expected Sunday to dump rain on the Florida Panhandle, as well as Alabama and Mississippi.

Meanwhile, a strong Pacific storm system was expected to slam into British Columbia and the Northwest. Rain was forecast for Washington and Oregon. Gusty winds were also anticipated.

Scattered showers were forecast for the Northeast as a a frontal system moves eastward through the Ohio Valley.

Sunny skies were forecast for the Southwest and West Coast.

Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Saturday ranged from a low of 26 degrees at Stanley, Idaho, to a high of 117 degrees at Death Valley, Calif.
