Thunderstorms dropped heavy rain across the Southwest, causing major flooding in some areas.
Dry air, thunderstorms and temperatures in the 100s put the Northwest at high risk for wildfires, particularly across most of Washington and Oregon.
Rain was heavy along the Atlantic coast from the Carolinas to the Gulf Coast, and Florida began to see the effects of Tropical Storm Fay.
Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Sunday ranged from 28 degrees at Berthoud Pass, Colo., to 102 degrees at Hanford, Wash.
